NOP Organic Livestock/Crop Inspector

We are looking for an experienced NOP Organic livestock/crop inspector. This person would preferably be based in California and be qualified to review Livestock (including Dairy) and Crop scopes (Handling scope is a bonus). Note: even if you don’t live in California but are willing to travel, that is okay as well.

 

Job Description

You will be tasked with evaluating Certification Program standards in alignment with an operation’s current practices, issue reports, interpret data and collaborate with our compliance team in the certification process. The position requires you to work in an office environment as well as in the field, working both independently and with a team of other certification professionals.

NOP Inspections Coordinator

We are seeking an NOP Inspections Coordinator. The position requires you to work in an office environment, working both independently and with a team of other certification professionals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily functions of the OC Inspection Department.

  • Assess the locations of our certified client base in order to properly assign an inspector based on qualifications and location of inspector.

  • Manage inspectors, inspection completion (quality and timeliness) and is a direct contact for inspectors.

  • Monitor and oversees the compliance of the department by: ensuring that each operation is inspected once per calendar year, that the Annual Unannounced Inspection & Sample requirements are met, and that each inspector undergoes a witness inspection as the designated intervals.

  • Responsible for keeping the department operating in the most sound and sensible way to ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree or working knowledge and experience with the National Organic Program (NOP) standards and regulations, preferrably 3-5 years.

  • Meets all qualifications listed in Inspector Job Description above (link).

  • Excellent communication skills in person, on the phone, and in writing. 

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex and technical concepts. 

  • Comfort using computer for multiple hours at a time. 

  • Comfortable managing large groups of people.

  • Competency in word processing, formatting, data bases, and email applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. 

  • Excellent skills to organize, monitor, and track numerous activities throughout the year.
